List of terms to revise:

  • Proposal treatment: The production treatment is a document which the client will see which has the proposed plan for the product.
  • Production Schedule: Brings together all of the required information for the product so that people will be able to plan and produce the product effectively.
  • Call sheet: Created for each day of production contains location details along with filming details and other key parts of information. These are created for each member of the crew and cast.
  • SWOT analysis: Analysing which ideas are the best for the product after the initial planning and ideas stage.
  • Asset log: A list of all the resources used during the media production, also used to check legal issues and other issues with the assets used in the product.
  • Risk assessment: A pre production visit to the filming site to check for damage and risk to the crew and cast. This is key for the product.
  • Storyboard: This is a visual plan that allows the crew and the cast to see roughly what the product will look like when it is completed. Helps to visualise and edit the product to be the best that it can be.
  • Script: the script tells the crew and cast what to do and say in each scene as well as lighting location and sound. key to a product success.
  • Shooting script: the shooting script tells the crew what the shot should look like and has details like lighting sound and camera movement.
  • Concept art: this is used to convey an idea in the planning stage of the product. For example characters being designed in games and being edited as the production process continues.
  • Visualisation diagram: A static representation of the product usually used in animation. Used to check if the idea will work well with the scene.
  • Flat plan wireframe: A 2D layout of articles or adverts are laid out on a screen and how the product will roughly look when it is finished.
  • Prototype: This is an early model of a media product and can still be edited but helps to give a look onto the final product.
  • Page mock up: Similar to flat plans and wireframes, but they have more detail added into the mock up. Shown to clients before the final product is made.
  • Set design: this is the creation of the documents that set out how a scene for film or tv location is going to be set up in the scene, either made in 2D or 3D.
  • Site map: A layout and plan of how the different pages of the product will fit together. this will effect the pages design. Includes a hierarchy for how these relate to each other is set out in a diagram.
  • Permission and consent forms: These forms provide the permission needed for the scene to be shot in the location that has been planned out. Usually needs the landlord and lease holder to agree as well as the council if the shooting is on a historic site of importance.

Weaknesses:
  • Target audience is small
  • Not a lot of creative freedom due to brief
  • Retail price of 50 pounds
  • Gameplay lacks detail and focus
Opportunities:
  • Being able to 3D scan and then import the raw life location where the game is based
  • Making a series out of the game (starting a franchise)
  • looking at the other games
  • Valuable in other markets
  • New software
  • Make a film other media
Threat:
  • Other games such as tomb raider and other adventure games
  • Copyright issues with the game and getting the remission to use the specific real life locations in the game world.
  • Puzzles may limit the audience interest and size
  • Niche audience may limit sales
  • Gameplay may not suit audience

A sketch that represents the LAYOUT of a print/published product and the arrangement of the elements     Print Band: For magazine poster leaflet.

To finance a product you can use Revenue Stream these are above

- Crowdfunding - How finance can be generated by using a campaign to gather funds for a project.
- Sponsorship - Money paid for a brand to be associated with the product. Attend to have the same audience as the product that they are advertising.
- Franchising - The product is licensed to another partner to use commercially such as merchandise. The license is given for a fee.
- Corporate Finance - A business is willing to invest in your product in return for more money back from the product in the long run.
- Advertising - Payments from the brands that have had their promotional material in the product e.g within a scene in a TV show.

Copyright Act - Can't use anyones else's ideas/products without their permission. Applies to all media products

Data Protection Act - the act that stops people from exploiting personal information.
